How to Cancel a MyPerfectResume Subscription (and Keep Your Resume)
To cancel a MyPerfectResume subscription, sign in, open your account settings and use the online cancel page there, or call their customer service line and ask them to cancel it. Either way, wait for the confirmation email with a cancellation number, because that email is your proof. Before you cancel, download every resume and cover letter you want to keep in PDF or Word, since a free account can still open and edit your documents but cannot download them in those formats. This guide walks through each route, the refund window, and what to use afterwards if you still have applications to send.
Everything below about MyPerfectResume was read on their own pricing page, terms of use and contact page as of October 2026. Policies and prices change, and the price you see depends on your region, so check their pages before you act on a figure.
Why people end up cancelling
Most people searching for this did not plan to be on a subscription at all. MyPerfectResume’s pricing page leads with a short paid trial, and the renewal is printed directly underneath it. As of October 2026 the page, shown to us in Canadian dollars, reads:
14-Day Premium Access $2.95 CAD. After 14 days, auto-renews at $34.95 CAD billed every 4 weeks. Cancel anytime.
The other paid option on the same page is a year paid up front:
1-Year Premium Access $9.95 CAD /month. Pay $119.40 CAD up-front and save 74%. Automatically renews each year.
Nothing there is hidden. The trouble is timing: a person signs up for one urgent application, gets the document out, and forgets about it until the four-weekly charge appears. Four-weekly billing means thirteen charges a year rather than twelve, which is worth knowing when you compare it with a tool priced per calendar month.
| MyPerfectResume plan (as of October 2026) | What you pay first | What it renews at |
|---|---|---|
| Free (Basic Access) | Nothing | Does not renew |
| 14-Day Premium Access | $2.95 CAD | $34.95 CAD every 4 weeks |
| 1-Year Premium Access | $119.40 CAD up front | Renews each year |
Your page may show US dollars, pounds or another currency. The structure, a short trial that rolls into four-weekly billing, is what to look for.
Before you cancel: save your documents
This is the step people skip, and it is the one that costs them.
MyPerfectResume’s terms of use say that a registered user can always view and edit the documents they created, but “will not be able to print, download or share unless you have an active Subscription.” The home page says the free builder downloads in “plain-text (TXT) format”, which strips out the layout you paid to get.
So, while your subscription is still active:
- Open each resume you might use again and download it as a PDF and as a Word file.
- Do the same for every cover letter.
- Save them somewhere you control, such as a cloud drive folder named for your job search.
- Copy the text of anything you edited heavily into a plain document as a backup.
The Word file matters more than the PDF. A PDF is what you send. A Word file is what you can still edit next month, in Word or Google Docs, without any resume builder at all.
How to cancel MyPerfectResume: three routes
The terms of use name two official routes, and the contact page adds chat. As of October 2026 the cancellation clause reads:
You may cancel your subscription anytime by contacting our customer service department or by going to the online cancel page under your settings page.
Route 1: online, from your settings
- Sign in to MyPerfectResume with the email address you subscribed with.
- Open your account area. The terms call it “My Accounts and My Settings”.
- Find the subscription section and the cancel page inside your settings.
- Follow the prompts to the end, reading each screen rather than clicking the first button.
- Wait for the confirmation email.
The terms also mention that you can “cancel or sometimes suspend” a subscription. A suspension is not a cancellation, so if the final screen says paused or suspended, you have not cancelled.
Route 2: by phone
MyPerfectResume’s contact page lists 855 213 0348 for the United States and Canada, open Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 8:00 pm CST, Saturday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm CST and Sunday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm CST. The United Kingdom line is 0808 189 0676, open 9:00 am to 9:00 pm GMT every day. These hours are as listed on that page in October 2026.
Have the email address on the account ready, ask for the subscription to be cancelled rather than paused, and ask for the cancellation number before you hang up.
Route 3: by chat or secure message
The same contact page offers an AI-supported chat for account questions seven days a week, and a secure message form. If the chat cannot complete the cancellation, ask it to pass you to a person or use the phone line.
Check that the cancellation actually went through
The terms say MyPerfectResume will email a cancellation number to confirm any cancellation request, and that if you do not receive it you should contact customer service directly. Their FAQ adds that a missing subscription, cancellation or refund email may be in your spam or junk folder.
- No email within a day: check spam, then contact them. Without the email you have no proof.
- Charged after cancelling: your statement shows the charge as MYPERFECTRESUME.COM, MYPERFECTRESUME or BLD*MYPERFECTRESUME, according to their contact page. Quote your cancellation number when you contact them.
- Charged and you do not remember subscribing: the same three descriptors are how to recognise it. Their FAQ invites you to contact them to review the account.
Can you get a refund?
Possibly, if you are quick. As of October 2026 the pricing page carries this line:
Money-Back Guarantee: Request a refund within 14 days of subscribing to premium access to qualify.
The terms add that you may request a refund if you cancel before the end of the initial period, and also state that the provider “does not guarantee refunds”. Read those together as: ask within the first 14 days, ask in writing, and keep the reply. After that window, plan on cancelling to stop future charges rather than recovering past ones.
Two things cancelling does not do
It does not delete your account or your documents. The terms say your documents stay available after you cancel “so you are able to come back at any time”. If you want them gone, the terms point you to a data deletion request or to customer service.
It does not unpublish an online profile. If you turned your resume into a public online profile through Bold.pro, the terms say cancelling the subscription “will not result in the unpublishing of your Profile from the public resume database”. Unpublish it from your account, or delete the account, if you no longer want it public.
Who should stay with MyPerfectResume
Cancelling is not the right answer for everybody. Stay subscribed, or plan to come back, if:
- you are actively applying and use the designed templates for every application;
- you rely on the builder’s suggested content because you find writing from a blank page hard;
- you use the job match score and the tailoring guidance it gives against a pasted job description;
- you are inside the first 14 days and want to finish your documents before asking for the refund.
In that case, the cheapest way to stay is usually the annual plan rather than the four-weekly one, provided your search will genuinely run that long.
What to use after you cancel
What you need next depends on what is still missing.
| What you still need | A good fit | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| A designed layout for a new resume | A free template in Google Docs or Word | Free |
| To edit the resume you already downloaded | The Word file you saved, in Word or Google Docs | Free |
| New wording for each job you apply to | InstaResume | Free tools with no sign-up, or $9 a month |
| A score against a posting | A resume scanner such as the ones in our Jobscan alternative guide | Varies |
If the resume already exists, you do not need a builder. The layout is done once. What changes per application is the wording: the summary, the bullets that match the posting, and the cover letter. That is the part InstaResume does. You paste your experience and, optionally, the job posting, and it writes a cover letter, resume bullets or a summary drawn from the facts you gave it. It does not invent experience you do not have.
The free tools need no account and give you three generations a day. A free account adds five more, granted once, plus PDF and DOCX export and saved history. Pro is $9 a month for 500 generations, and it is billed monthly rather than every four weeks. If you cancel Pro, it runs to the end of the period you paid for and your saved results stay yours. See pricing for the details.
If you mainly want another template builder, our Resume.io alternative and Zety alternative guides compare the builders on price and free limits, and the Kickresume pricing breakdown covers one with a usable free plan.
When the manual way is enough
You may not need any paid tool after cancelling. If you have the Word file and are applying to a handful of similar jobs, the manual route works well:
- Keep one master resume with everything on it.
- For each posting, copy the master and cut what the job does not ask for.
- Rewrite your summary in two or three sentences aimed at that role. Our resume summary guide has a formula.
- Reorder your bullets so the ones matching the posting come first. How to tailor a resume to a job description shows how.
- Write a short cover letter using a reusable structure, like the one in how to write a cover letter.
That costs nothing but time. A tool earns its place when you are sending many applications a week and the rewriting becomes the bottleneck.
Quick answers
Does deleting the app cancel my subscription? No. Cancel through your settings page or customer service and keep the confirmation email.
Will I lose my resume if I cancel? The document stays in your account, but on a free account you cannot download it as PDF or Word. Download it before you cancel.
Can I cancel during the 14-day trial? Yes. The pricing page says “Cancel anytime”, and cancelling inside the trial is how you avoid the four-weekly renewal.
Where do I find the cancel page? Under your account settings, according to the terms of use. If you cannot find it, the phone line and chat on their contact page can cancel it for you.
