The best Resume Worded alternative depends on why you are leaving. If you want a free keyword match against a posting, Jobscan’s free plan and Teal’s free plan both cover it. If you want a full resume builder with scoring for less, Rezi’s Pro plan costs less per month than Resume Worded Pro on monthly billing. If your real problem is writing new, posting-specific bullets and cover letters for every application, a per-application writer such as InstaResume does that job at $9 a month. This guide compares all four against Resume Worded, with prices as of September 2026, and says plainly who should stay put.

Every price below was read from each company’s own pricing page this month. Prices change, so confirm on their site before you pay.

Why people look for a Resume Worded alternative

Resume Worded is a feedback tool. You upload the resume you already have and it scores it, flags weak lines and, with Targeted Resume, shows which keywords from a job posting you are missing. It also reviews LinkedIn profiles, which few competitors do. We covered it in depth in our Resume Worded review.

The reasons people go looking elsewhere tend to be the same three:

  • The full reports sit on the paid plan. Its plan comparison puts the complete Score My Resume, Targeted Resume and LinkedIn Review reports under Pro.
  • Monthly billing is $49. Its Pro page lists $49 a month, $99 every three months, or one payment of $229 for a year. That is fine for a long search and steep for a short one.
  • It grades rather than writes. The core loop is upload, get flagged, fix. If you already know your resume is decent and what you lack is time to rewrite it for each posting, a grader is the wrong shape of tool.

Who should stay with Resume Worded

Switching is not always the right call. Stay if:

  • You want your LinkedIn profile reviewed in the same tool as your resume. None of the alternatives below match that.
  • Your resume has never had a hard edit. Line-level flags on weak verbs and missing metrics are exactly what a first draft needs.
  • Your search will run for months and the annual price of $229 works out cheaper than a mix of other tools.
  • You like a score to work toward. A number out of 100 with named fixes tells you when you are done.

If two of those four describe you, Resume Worded is probably still the better buy.

Jobscan: the closest like-for-like

Jobscan is the tool most people compare with Resume Worded, because both answer the same question: how well does this resume match this posting? You paste a resume and a job description and get a match rate plus the skills and keywords you are missing.

Pricing as of September 2026. Jobscan’s pricing page lists a $0 plan with “5 Free Resume Scans monthly.” The quarterly plan is $29.98 a month, billed as $89.95 every three months, and the monthly plan is $49.95, billed every month. Both paid plans include unlimited resume scans.

Better for: someone who wants the match score and missing keywords without Resume Worded’s line-by-line critique, and who applies to five or fewer jobs a month on the free plan.

Less good for: writing the new text. Jobscan tells you “project management” is missing; putting it into a believable bullet is still your job. Our Jobscan review and Jobscan vs Teal go deeper.

Teal: the free workspace

Teal is built around the whole search rather than one resume. It tracks the jobs you save, holds several resume versions, and pulls keywords out of a job description so you can see what matters.

Pricing as of September 2026. Teal’s pricing page shows a “Free Forever” plan with unlimited resumes and unlimited job tracking, with a small number of AI credits. Teal+ is listed at $13 per week, with longer plans shown at $29 and $79. Its page says: “While most of Teal’s tools are available for free, we offer Teal+ for job seekers who want to take their job search to the next level.”

Better for: anyone applying to many jobs who wants tracking and resume versions in one place without paying. The free tier is the most generous in this list for organising a search.

Less good for: heavy AI writing on the free tier, since credits are limited. See our Teal review for what the free plan covers.

Rezi: a cheaper builder with a score

Rezi is an AI resume builder with its own scoring. The Rezi Score checks your resume against 23 metrics, and AI Keyword Targeting reads a job description and works its keywords into your resume.

Pricing as of September 2026. Rezi’s pricing page lists Free at $0 with 1 resume and 3 PDF downloads, Pro at $29 a month with unlimited resumes and “free monthly review” by a person, and a Lifetime plan at a one-time $149. Its FAQ says the Lifetime plan does not include the monthly expert review.

Better for: someone who wants a score and a builder together, at a lower monthly price than Resume Worded. The one-time $149 option suits anyone who expects to job hunt again.

Less good for: people who already like their resume’s layout, since Rezi works inside its own templates. Our Rezi review and Rezi pricing guide cover the tiers.

InstaResume: when writing is the bottleneck

InstaResume is a different kind of tool. It does not score your resume. You paste what you have actually done and, if you want, the job posting. It returns a tailored cover letter, a set of resume bullet points or a professional summary for that role, drawing keywords from the posting and staying grounded in your real background. It does not invent employers, titles or numbers. Results export as PDF or DOCX.

Pricing as of September 2026. The free tool pages give 3 generations a day with no account. A free account grants 5 generations once; they do not refill. Pro is $9 a month for 500 generations, and you can cancel any time. Full details are on the pricing page.

Better for: someone whose resume is already in reasonable shape and who spends their evenings rewriting it and a cover letter for each posting.

Less good for: anyone who wants a score, a LinkedIn review or resume templates. InstaResume does none of those. If that is what you need, Resume Worded, Jobscan or Rezi fits better.

How to choose

Match the tool to the problem you actually have:

  • “I don’t know what is wrong with my resume.” Stay with Resume Worded, or try Rezi’s score.
  • “I want to know if my resume matches this posting, for free.” Jobscan’s 5 free monthly scans, or Teal’s keyword view.
  • “I’m applying to dozens of jobs and losing track.” Teal’s free plan.
  • “I know what to fix, I just don’t have time to rewrite it for every posting.” A writer such as InstaResume.
  • “I’ll be job hunting on and off for years.” Rezi’s one-time Lifetime plan, or Resume Worded’s annual plan.

Tools also combine. A common pattern is one free scan with a grader to fix the base resume, then a cheap writer for each application after that. Our guide on how to tailor a resume to a job description walks through the per-posting step by hand.

How to switch away from Resume Worded

  1. Download your current resume in PDF and DOCX before your Pro period ends, so you keep every fix you made.
  2. Cancel before the renewal date. Resume Worded’s Pro page says each plan can be cancelled anytime.
  3. Keep the free account if an occasional scan is still useful. Nothing stops you mixing free and paid tools.
  4. Test the replacement on a real posting. Paste one job description into the tool you picked and compare the result with what you would have written yourself.
