Rezi vs Teal: Grade the Resume, or Run the Search? (2026)
Rezi vs Teal is not a close call once you know which problem you have: Rezi grades and rewrites one resume, Teal runs a whole job search. Rezi is a builder wrapped around a score: it checks a resume against a fixed list of metrics, targets it at a posting, and writes the bullet points for you. Teal is a workspace: unlimited resumes, unlimited job tracking, email templates per stage, and an AI allowance bolted onto the side. They overlap for about twenty minutes of a job search and diverge completely after that.
This guide compares the two on price, on what each free plan really gives you, on how their AI writing differs, and on who should stay with which. It also says plainly when neither is the purchase you need.
Every figure about Rezi and Teal below was read on their own pricing pages in September 2026: rezi.ai/pricing and tealhq.com/pricing. Prices change, so confirm on their site before you pay.

The row that decides most purchases is the free plan, and it points in opposite directions. Teal’s free plan is a real product; Rezi’s is a demonstration.
What each free plan actually includes
Teal’s Free Forever tier gives you unlimited resumes, unlimited job tracking, 10 resume templates, top-5 keyword matching against a posting, basic resume analysis, one email template per job stage, and a small AI allowance: 10 resume bullets, 2 professional summaries and 2 cover letters. Teal’s own page is blunt about the entry cost:
“No credit card required to start.” (tealhq.com/pricing, September 2026)
Rezi’s free tier is 1 resume, 3 PDF downloads, 1 AI interview, the standard format templates, and the AI Resume Writer and Editor, with the Rezi Score, AI Keyword Targeting and real-time content analysis all marked Limited rather than full. The FAQ on that page confirms unlimited cover and resignation letters are included, and that no card is required to begin.
So a careful person can run months of a search inside Teal’s free plan and never pay. Inside Rezi’s, they can build one resume, download it three times, and then they are at the paywall. That is a deliberate difference in strategy, not a defect on either side, but it changes what “free plan” means in a comparison table.
What the paid plans cost
| Feature | Rezi | Teal |
|---|---|---|
| 7 days | n/a | $13 ($1.85 a day) |
| 30 days | $29 | $29 ($0.96 a day) |
| 90 days | n/a | $79 ($0.87 a day) |
| One-time | $149 (Lifetime) | n/a |
| Team / org | $99 a month per 200 users | n/a |
The monthly headline is identical ($29 either way) and everything interesting is on the rows around it.
Teal’s weekly tier is the most expensive way to buy the same features. $13 every 7 days is about $52 a month, against $79 for a whole quarter on the 90-day plan. Teal publishes the per-day figures itself: $1.85 a day weekly, $0.87 a day quarterly. If you buy Teal+, buy 30 or 90 days.
Rezi’s Lifetime plan is the only way either product stops charging you. $149 once buys permanent access to everything Pro has, with one exception Rezi states directly in its FAQ: the free monthly expert resume review is not included, and has to be bought separately. At $29 a month, Lifetime pays for itself somewhere in the sixth month, which matters only if you expect to be job-hunting, on and off, for years.
On refunds, Rezi advertises a 100% money-back guarantee within 30 days on Pro and Lifetime, requested through the account. Teal handles refunds by email to membersupport@tealhq.com, and only inside the eligibility window of the plan you bought. Cancelling Teal takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
How their AI writing differs
Both will write bullet points and a cover letter. They are aiming at different things.
- Rezi writes to a rubric. The Rezi Score evaluates a resume against 23 metrics, and the AI Resume Writer and Editor are there to move those metrics: punctuated bullets, filler words, quantified bullets, weak bullets. AI Keyword Targeting scans the posting and works its terms into the resume. It is a closed loop: generate, score, rewrite.
- Teal writes to fill a slot. The allowance is counted in credits (10 bullets, 2 summaries, 2 cover letters on free, unlimited on Teal+) and the output lands inside a resume you are building in Design Mode. The tailoring signal is the job description you attach, which Teal uses to highlight matched terms.
Neither of them applies for you. Teal lists autofill for application questions; Rezi ships a Chrome extension that auto-fills and applies in one click. That is the closest either comes, and it is worth reading each vendor’s own current description before you count on it.
Who should stay with Rezi
- You want one resume made as strong as a rubric can make it. The score is the product, and it is a genuinely useful discipline for someone who has never been told why their resume reads weakly.
- You want a human to look at it. Pro includes one expert review a month. Nothing in Teal does this at any price.
- You are done paying subscriptions. $149 once is the only exit from monthly billing in this comparison.
- You are a university or careers service. Rezi Enterprise is priced per 200 users with SSO, domain restriction and review management; Teal has no equivalent tier on its pricing page.
Who should stay with Teal
- You are applying to a lot of roles and losing track of them. The tracker is the reason Teal exists, and it is unlimited on the free plan.
- You want to spend nothing for a while. Unlimited resumes and unlimited tracking at $0 is the most generous free tier here by a distance.
- Your search is short and intense. The 7-day tier exists for a burst: one fortnight of heavy applying, then cancel.
When neither one is what you need
Both products assume the resume document is the job. For a lot of people it isn’t: the resume already exists and is fine, and the thing that stalls every application is the writing: a cover letter for this posting, bullets rephrased in this employer’s language, today, for a role you will apply to once.
Paying $29 a month for a workspace or a scoring rubric to get four paragraphs written is a poor trade, and so is buying a lifetime licence for a search you hope lasts six weeks.
| Feature | Rezi | Teal | InstaResume |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free entry | 1 resume, 3 downloads | Unlimited resumes and tracking | Free tools, no sign-up |
| Paid | $29 / month, or $149 once | $29 every 30 days | $9 a month |
| Built for | Grading and rebuilding a resume | Running the whole search | Writing the text for one posting |
| Tracking | No | Yes | No |
- Choose Rezi if the resume itself is weak and you want it graded and rebuilt.
- Choose Teal if you are running a long search and want it organised for free.
- Choose InstaResume if the document is fine and the words are the blocker. It reads the posting, takes what you have actually done, and returns a cover letter or a set of resume bullets grounded in your real background: the free tools need no sign-up at all, and Pro is $9 a month for 500 generations, with no tracker or template gallery to pay for.
- Use two of them. Track in Teal’s free plan, write where writing is the product, and keep the monthly spend at zero for as long as the search allows.
How to switch between them
Nothing here locks you in, because the artefact is a resume file.
- Export what you have. Rezi downloads PDF and, on paid plans, .DOCX and Google Drive. Teal exports from the builder too.
- Re-upload rather than retype. Both builders take an existing resume as a starting point, which preserves the dates and employers you have already checked.
- Cancel before the period renews, not after. Teal’s cancellation applies at the end of the paid period; Rezi’s 30-day guarantee is counted from purchase.
- Keep the master copy outside both. A .DOCX on your own disk survives any pricing change either company makes.
Frequently asked questions
Is Rezi or Teal cheaper?
At a month, they are the same: $29 either way as of September 2026. Over a quarter Teal is cheaper at $79 against Rezi’s $87, and over a year Rezi’s $149 Lifetime plan beats anything Teal sells. Teal’s $13 weekly tier is the most expensive option in this comparison on any timeframe longer than a fortnight.
Does Teal have a resume score like Rezi’s?
Teal gives a Match Score against a job description on Teal+, and basic resume analysis on the free plan. Rezi’s score is a broader 23-metric evaluation of the resume itself, and it is the centre of the product rather than one panel in it.
Can I use both for free?
Yes. Teal’s Free Forever plan and Rezi’s free tier both start without a card, and they do not conflict: Teal’s tracker with Rezi’s builder is a common pairing. You will hit Rezi’s 3-download limit first.
Do either of them write a cover letter?
Both do. Teal’s free plan includes 2, unlimited on Teal+; Rezi includes the AI Cover Letter Writer on the free tier, with unlimited cover letters per its pricing FAQ. If that is the only part you actually need, compare both against a purpose-built writing tool before paying for a builder, and our Teal review and Rezi review go through each one on its own.
