MyPerfectResume Review: Is It Legit, and What Does It Really Cost?
MyPerfectResume is a real, working resume builder, and the answer to “is it legit?” is yes: you pick a template, fill in guided sections and download a finished document. What catches people out is the billing, not the product. The free plan lets you build but only download plain text, the short paid trial rolls into a charge every four weeks, and a refund has to be requested inside 14 days. This review covers what each plan includes, who it suits and who should look elsewhere.
Everything below about MyPerfectResume was read on their own pricing page and FAQ as of October 2026. The pricing page shown to us was in Canadian dollars, and the price you see depends on your region, so open their page before you pay.
The short verdict
- Use MyPerfectResume if you are starting from a blank page, want a designed template to handle layout, and will either finish inside the trial or commit to the annual plan.
- Use its free plan if a plain-text file is all you need.
- Look elsewhere if your resume already exists and you only need new wording for each posting. A builder is the wrong shape for that job.
- Set a reminder on the day you start a trial. The renewal date is the whole risk.
Is MyPerfectResume legit?
Yes, in the sense that matters for a purchase: the product does what its pages say. The builder, the templates and the downloads exist, and the pricing is printed on the pricing page rather than buried. The risk behind the word “scam” is the billing pattern described below. A person pays $2.95 for one urgent application, forgets the plan, and sees a larger charge weeks later.
Judge it as you would any subscription. Read the renewal line before entering a card, note the date, and keep every confirmation email.
What MyPerfectResume offers
The pricing page lists a tool set per plan. The one split that is stated plainly is the download format. As of October 2026:
| Feature | Where the page puts it |
|---|---|
| Resume and cover letter builder | Free and paid |
| Expert-written content suggestions | Listed in the plan comparison |
| Unlimited downloads in TXT format | Free and paid |
| Unlimited PDF and Word downloads | Premium |
| Professionally designed templates | Listed in the plan comparison |
| ResumeCheck feedback | Listed in the plan comparison |
| Bold.pro online profile, interview tools, webinars | Listed under career tools |
The FAQ describes the builder as guided, with suggested job-specific content and spelling and grammar checks. The page says its templates come from professional graphic designers and that there are 40+ of them. ResumeCheck is described as scanning your resume for 30+ issues.
In practice this is a document-first product. You choose a layout, fill sections, and the output is a formatted resume plus a matching cover letter. That is its strength for a first resume and its limit for a tenth application.
What MyPerfectResume costs
As of October 2026 the pricing page shows two paid options next to the free plan:
| Plan | What you pay first | What happens next |
|---|---|---|
| Free (Basic Access) | Nothing | Does not renew |
| 14-Day Premium Access | $2.95 CAD | Auto-renews at $34.95 CAD billed every 4 weeks |
| 1-Year Premium Access | $119.40 CAD up front ($9.95 CAD a month) | Automatically renews each year |
The page prints the trial terms in full:
14-Day Premium Access $2.95 CAD. After 14 days, auto-renews at $34.95 CAD billed every 4 weeks. Cancel anytime.
Two things follow from that table.
- The trial is not the price. If you do nothing, the $2.95 becomes $34.95 after two weeks.
- Four-week billing means thirteen charges a year, not twelve. Over a long search that adds up faster than the monthly figure suggests.
The annual plan is the cheaper way to stay if your search will genuinely run for months, because the page lists it at $9.95 CAD a month against $34.95 CAD every four weeks. If you will be done in a month, the trial plus a cancellation is cheaper than either.
What happens when you stop paying
This is where free-plan expectations go wrong. The pricing page shows PDF and Word downloads as a Premium feature, and the free plan offers TXT. The terms of use, which we read for our cancellation guide, say a registered user can still view and edit documents after a plan ends but cannot download in the paid formats without an active subscription.
So download the PDF and the Word file before the plan ends. The Word file is the one worth keeping, because you can edit it later in Word or Google Docs without any builder.
The refund line
The pricing page carries a short guarantee:
Money-Back Guarantee: Request a refund within 14 days of subscribing to premium access to qualify.
Treat 14 days as a hard edge. Ask in writing, keep the reply, and do not assume a later request will be honoured. The step-by-step routes for cancelling and for asking are in how to cancel a MyPerfectResume subscription.
Who MyPerfectResume suits
- First-time builders. If you have never made a resume, guided sections and suggested wording take the blank page away.
- People who want a designed look. Templates are the paid feature that justifies the plan for someone whose own layout skills are weak.
- A single, concentrated push. Sign up, build a resume and a cover letter in one sitting, download, finish within the trial.
- Anyone who wants a scan. ResumeCheck gives a list of issues to fix, and the page describes it as checking for 30+.
Who should look elsewhere
- You already have a resume. The layout is done once. What changes for each application is the wording: the summary, the bullets that match the posting, and the cover letter. A builder charges you for the part you do not need again.
- You apply to many jobs a week. Re-opening a template for each one is slow, and the subscription runs the whole time.
- You want to pay once and walk away. There is no one-off purchase on the pricing page, only the trial that renews and the annual plan that renews.
A different job: tailoring what you already have
InstaResume does the other half. You paste your own experience and, optionally, the job posting, and it writes a cover letter, resume bullets or a summary from the facts you gave it. It does not design a layout, and it does not invent experience.
| MyPerfectResume | InstaResume | |
|---|---|---|
| Built around | The document: template, sections, download | The posting: wording for one application |
| Free option | Builder, TXT download only | Tool pages with no account; 5 generations on a free account |
| Paid price (as of October 2026) | $2.95 CAD trial, then $34.95 CAD every 4 weeks, or $119.40 CAD a year | $9 a month |
| Templates | 40+ designed templates | None |
On our side: the free tools need no sign-up and give three generations a day. A free account adds five more, granted once, with PDF and DOCX export and saved history. Pro is $9 a month for 500 generations, billed monthly, and cancelling keeps it running to the end of the period you paid for. The details are on the pricing page.
The two fit together. Plenty of people take a free or trial builder for the base resume and use a tailoring tool for each application. If that is your plan, our guide to how to tailor a resume to a job description shows the manual method, and AI resume tailoring compares tools that do it for you.
When the free route is enough
You may not need to pay anyone.
- Write one master resume in Google Docs or Word with everything on it.
- For each posting, copy it and cut what the job does not ask for.
- Rewrite the summary in two or three sentences aimed at that role. The resume summary guide has a formula.
- Put the bullets that match the posting first.
- Write a short cover letter from a reusable structure, such as the one in how to write a cover letter.
That costs only time. A paid tool earns its place when rewriting becomes the bottleneck or when you want a designed layout you cannot make yourself.
